Yesterday, around 9am i started from home, the sun was shining bright up in the sky and no signs of rain, as a result, I left my umbrella at home. Just another day i thought and was travellin in a bus to office. Everything was perfect till 12noon, after that, the sky got a lill dark and it was getting darker in the afternoon. I just peeped out of the window to see that the raindrops were pretty big and the drizzle was more than a drizzle. All of sudden, it started pouring like someone was pouring water from heaven with a huge bucket. After 5 minutes, i could find streams on the road and knee deep water gushing all over.
I took special permission from my manager to leave early as i found no signs of the rain stopping. I took my office umbrella, walked to bus stop. To my horror, there was so much of crowd and the whole place was marooned. I was standing on the pavement and knee deep water just before the pavement. With a great difficulty, I caught a deluxe bus. Usually, I wait for a long time to catch a bus that is least crowded. But having seen the traffic scenario yesterday, I know I will not get a least crowded bus and if i wait, i will have to keep waiting. Atleast I was happy that i got into a deluxe bus, where the crowd was manageable.
I was not lucky enough to catch a seat. So many anxious and worried faces around me, calling up their loved ones and I, just called up my Dad and said "dad, I don’t know when I will reach home, ask amma to be cool". People gave a weird look. The bus was moving from bumper to bumper. With great difficulty, managed to cross koyembedu round about signal after 2hrs of expedition on the road(pity the bus driver). I totally lost my patience, as i was suffocating inside due to lack of oxygen.
I got off the bus, managed to catch an auto. He asked 80 bucks from koyembedu to kodambakkam. I was happy. I nodded, got into an auto and asked him to take a viable route that can reach me home faster. He took a left turn near Arumbakkam, took some kutti sandhu and finally he stopped infront of my house. I paid him 10 bucks extra for his extraordinary riding skills and presence of mind, otherwise I would have got stuck in vadapalani signal.. The situation was actually worse coz it was a friday evening + diwali time + heavy thunder showers. Ah, I was bloody damn hungry when i reached home. My mother had made appalam and rasam for me specially. I ate like a glutton, slept like a baby. Ofcourse, I was stuck in the same place today morning also. But it was not as bad as yesterday.
Enna koduma sir ithu!!!!!

IMD forecast for the day
1 commentsYesterday morning (22.10.2008), I woke up and saw the sky was little gloomy. There was partial sunshine. I thought it was another day. With a bored look on my face, i started gettin ready for office. Suddenly there was a power cut and the sky was gettin really dark.
It started raining around 8.30am and was quite heavy. Usually, my street, no matter how it much rains, water logging will be very minimal. Yesterday, unsually, there was a swimming pool infront of my house. I called up my office immediately and said i will be coming only after the rain stops.
I waited for an hour. There was a mild drizzling and so i decided to start for my office. Actually day before yesterday (21.10.08) was declared a holiday for schools and colleges. As usual, there was little rainfall on tat day and it rained heavily yesterday.
With great difficulty, i reached office. In the evening, my parents were eager to watch suntv news to know about the weather forecast (Ya, i used to watch suntv news way back in 2005 to just listen to my exams gettin postponed due to heavy showers). I was warning them not to watch. Coz, whenever IMD says weather forecast on tv, I see that almost opposite of it happens. Yesterday, our dear beloved man who always comes on tv to forecast weather said there would be heavy showers for next two days. School will remain closed tommorrow owing to heavy downpour blah blah...Ya, today morning, the sun was out smiling bright.. I was sweating profusely, while waitin in the bus stop to catch my bus to office.
This reminded me of a scene in the movie thiruvilayadal arambam, where dhanush brings an umbrella to college inorder to protect shriya from rain. The sun wud be shining bright though. He gives the umbrella to shreya
Dhanush:"intha kodai inniku mazhai varum"(actually the sun would be shining bright)
She will smile and say "Eppadi sollara, kandipa mazha varathu.Eppadi veyyil adikuthu paaru".
After 10 seconds, it starts raining and dhanush brings umbrella for her(ofcouse, happens only in our cinemas).
shreya:"Eppadi sonna mazhai varumnu"..
Dhanush:"TV la sonnanga"
Shreya:"mazhai varumna"
Dhanush:"illa mazha varathunu".
Ya jovial stuff, but remains a fact though.

Expiry date of Tomato Ketchup.....
0 commentsWhen i was in college, our gang used to hang out in one of my friend's place for combine studies. I used to go to her house jus for studying and there were two other guys who came for learnin lessons.
During 7th semester study holls, there was heavy downpour almost every evening. One fine evening, as usual, it was raining heavily. My friend's mom had made yummy sandwiches for all the 4 of us. There was no tomato ketchup at home. So me and other two guys decided to get one at the nearby grocery shop.
It was raining heavily.. With great difficulty we managed to go to the shop. We asked the shopkeeper for a small bottle of ketchup. He told us "pasangala en kitta oru bottle ketchup thaan iruku. mazhai naala saraku varala". (i have just one bottle of ketchup, coz of incessant rains, we have not purchased goods)
We were quite happy that atlst one bottle of ketchup was available. I remember tat day was the last day of the month. After buyin the ketchup, i saw the expiry date. It said best before november 1st 2005. We were seeing each others face. one guy said "dai machan vidu da, nalaiku thaane expiry date..namma innikae gaali panniruvom..ketchup illama sandwich saapda mudiyaathu mapi"(dude tom is only the expiry date rite?y do we retain the sauce till tom?we shall finish it by today itself)
With that ketchup bottle, we went home and had those yummy sandwiches. Guess wat ? we emptied the whole bottle of ketchup tat night itself. we could better say sandwiches for ketchup instead of ketchup for sandwiches.

0 commentsI previously said (in another post) that my mom dislikes if i study too hard for an exam.. I usually hate to study hard, but i exceptionally worked hard for GRE and screwed it to the worst possible extend. The moment i entered the house, my mom found that i screwed my exam and she said those golden words again "Ni romba padicha..na sonnaen romba padikaathanu..ni enga ketta"....atlast, things happened like wat she said :(....
i screwed my GRE..infact i cancelled the scores :(
Anyways, padipu varala nu feel pannara jaathila na porakala...i will surely work less and score more the next time :)

Aatha thirumbi vara- Mummy returns
0 commentsVijay tv started the trend of telecasting english movies ofcourse translated in tamil. I generally skip these programs, coz i really dont have the patience to watch a movie on television. Once, me and ma cousin were totally jobless. Just came across a program about review of Shanghai knights in suntv.
Initially, i was against the attempt to watch but when we started watching the reviews, i bet we would have never laughed this much if we had watched the english version.
As far as Jackie Chan was concerned, he was speaking normal tamil. I mean a decent slang. Owen wilson was actually speakin in local "madras tamil"... he was like innada, thoda blah blah.
A scene goes like this. Jackie chan introduces lucy liu (i guess his sister in the movie) to owen wilson, owen wilson gives a crazy reaction. Tamil translation was so "Machi dai, un thangachi superrrrr figure ma. Cha ippadi oru super figure unaku thangachi nu na sollavae illa." What a crazy translation was that? Me and my cousin were laughing our ass out.
owen wilson and jackie chan under disguise, (like some ambassador of some country) goes for an embassy meeting. Owen wilson goes to the head chef to enquire about the dish kept on the table. Eskooose me "intha pathartham paeru inna?"....That guy blabbers something in some crap language. Our thala says to jackie "dai ivan padhartham paeru sollaraana, illana nammala ketta vaarthaila thittaraana? kettu sollu machi". It proved a great entertainment for me and ma cousin that day.
On the similar lines, some famous dialogues which were intended to be serious but happened to be a joke.
Jurrasic park, "antha prani enna thorathuthu"
Shanghai noon movie, cowboys in texas speak Thirunalveli tamizh :P
Exorcist(unfortunately i watched the tamil version of the movie witout knowin the fact that it was tamil.)
"Antha paey enna thorathuthu"
Spiderman II telecasted in suntv some days back...
Inshort, all movies on suntv during weekends.
Of all, i wouldnt mind watching all Jackie chan movies in Tamil. Hope i get the collections soon...i bet it proves to be a better entertainment than watchin it in English.

SWAT cats
0 commentsOne day i was so idle unlike other days, i was so bloody restless. Google's one of the greatest tool youtube is always there to make somberis to somberiyest...so i opened youtube and was thinkin abt the topic. All of a sudden, swat cats cartoon flashed thro my mind. I was watchin few video clippings of it. After watching few vadivelu comedies and stuff i decided to hit the sack.
It is very unusual if i dont get dreams when i sleep. Even if i nap for 10 min in the afternoon, i get dreams. I was dreaming about flying a jet. All of a sudden, i realised that i had co-pilots. One was T-bone(swat cats character) and another was Razor (another character). Oh my God, i couldnt believe. We were chasing someone, i vaguely remember it was the dark man. It was so exciting as i was targetting the enemy and checking the accuracy to launch a misile on the enemy's flight. i was sweating profusely out of excitment and there was a sudden jerk. I got up and realised that i was actually sweating profusely. I indeed got disappointed to realise that it was just a dream. I thought flying is exciting, i shud experiment in real life once and got back to zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz......... ;)

Ni Rombha padicha seri varathu!!!
0 commentsMy parents always had a very strong confidence on me with respect to my acads. No matter how playful am, no matter how notorious, they know that i allocate needed time for studies. This was indeed happening to me only till about 9th std. After i came to 10th class where i have to face my board exams, they started showing a lill concern. Constant pampering, irritating advises all of a sudden, bugged me. Initially, i got a lill irritated, later never gave heeds to what they said and started moving on. I am basically a person who never cares what others say and i will achieve when it is needed for me. Be it sports or anything for that matter. Even while going for shuttle matches, i decide whether i have to win or lose. If i dont have the passion to win, i just give a damn to it no matter how much people elucidate the importance.
I never scored big in my 10th board exams. Just scored 84% with some constant attempt for last 10 days during my study holls. I was bold and clever enough to omit a unit in physics and also in chemistry. I never studied geography till my study holls. It was during that period, i realised geography portion was mammoth sized.
My parents judged my effort in the beginning stage itself. My father's instincts were quite strong and said i would score somewhere around 70%. At one point, stopped bothering me coz they realised no matter how much they insist, i wont listen. They were quite overwhelmed when my dad's friend said i have scored well.. Till then they werent even ready to believe that i scored 84%. Seeking admissions in a better school was a cake walk.
My 11th grade went off well with lots of sports and fun. Ofcourse i fell sick after a trip to bangalore for which i dint attend 60 days :P and yet i managed to scrap thro' 11th local board exams.
My mother advised me to take 12th std seriously. Ok, i really dint realise this coz of her advise, but on the note of personal satisfaction i started opening my books in the early stage. No matter how hard i tried, i never scored well. I really got pissed coz for the effort i put, it was really annoying to see such low scores. Infact i scored better in my 11th grade. I was screwing up my models as well. Then came the board exams. The English papers, language papers as usual went on well coz there was no need to break my head with concepts. I was left free to crap stuff on my own words.
The day arrived, i was facing physics the first main subject. Dint really put in lots of effort, i faired out well. Scored about 195. The two days leave given to me was fully utilised for everything except studying.
Next came chemistry and as usual i did the same thing which i did for physics as well. The ever dreading subject mathematics was one of the biggest night mares for me coz i was and i am very famous for silly mistakes like 2+5 = 6. I was breaking my head for 3 days. Wrote the exam. Results proved that it is surely not good if i study hard. Believe me, i scored 195 in physics, 199 in chemistry and just 180 in mathematics after having loaded the entire effort on it.
So now, my mom has started having a perception that if i work hard, i lose. She often says..Dont study too much, you wont fair well. 4 years of engineering went on like this. When my parents ask me you have nothing to do? i just say, mom trust me. Never favour when i study too much. Now, i am gonna take up my GRE. After seeing the consistant effort i put, my mom has started advising against studying too much. When i was into a conversation with my friend about quants and verbal, all of a sudden my mom says "Ava romba padicha, romba kevalama perform pannara pa". hehehe..Funny isnt it?? She says dont react too much and write what you know. "ni romba padicha seri pattu varathu, therinjatha poi ezhudhu superA mark varum"...Is tat some kinda moral booster???am perplexed.
